Species: TOPAZ Locality: South Baldface Mountain, Chatham, NH Specimen Size: 3.7 cm x 3.1 cm. Daylight and LW UV views Field Collected: ex. Dana Jewel collection Catalog No.: A Don Dallaire specimen & photo Notes: [dd] "The regular picture was taken by Kevin Downey for the topaz issue of R&M and the surprise was when I accidently found out how fluorescent it was under long wave. Who knew that topaz fluoresces? I only got this result with long wave and also found that some other topazes from all over the world do fluoresce but this one was the strongest response." |
